USG Holds Conference Featuring Nobel Prize Winner Muhammad Yunus

WHO:

WHAT:
A day-long economic development conference hosted by the University System of ߲ to showcase student proposals to address community issues and promote job creation. The keynote speaker is Prof. Yunus, who pioneered and championed the concept of microcredit – the extension of very small loans (microloans) to those in poverty designed to spur entrepreneurship. The conference is open to the public: tickets are $25 (students are $15).

WHEN:

WHY:
The University System of ߲ has three-part mission of teaching, research and service. The conference is an opportunity to combine all three parts of this mission in a focused effort to engage students to become involved with local communities by addressing a key issue. Students will be challenged to develop a social business model that can lead to potential job creation and economic development.
